HOW TO CREATE INSTAGRAM CONTENT
Creating Engaging Instagram Content to Boost Brand Visibility
How do you create the next viral Instagram video or get your hashtag trending? It’s a question that many brands and marketers ask themselves. After all, social media has become an indispensable tool for companies who want to reach their customers and creating engaging content.
As a visual platform, Instagram can seem like a challenge for many. It’s not enough to just post a photo and hope for the best. To boost awareness and widen your customer funnel, you’ll need to post your content at the right time, choose the right content, interact with your followers, and more.
Choose the Right Photos
The photos you post should be high quality and have a high resolution. Remember that the majority of your followers are scrolling through Instagram on their smartphones, so your images need to be optimized for mobile. That means choosing bright, clear images that they’ll easily be able to see on a smaller screen.
Though original content is best, not every post needs to be. Don’t be afraid to switch it up by posting news stories from your industry, quotes from influencers, or images that resonate with you. Just make sure to offer your perspective in the caption, and provide credit for images you didn’t take. The important part is to tell your followers why you thought this would resonate with them, and how it relates back to your brand.
Choose Lifestyle Shots
Users will be turned off by continuous promotional shots of your brand or service. Switch up the type of content that you are publishing to keep your fans interested and continuing to interact with your brand. This content should still be relevant to your product, but line up with the interests of your user demographic.
For example, are you a restaurant? Consider posting an image of a local farm where you receive your ingredients from, or shot of friends laughing over a meal along with an inspirational quote about how food brings people together.
This doesn’t just mean responding to users who comment on your posts – which you should be doing anyways. Seek out potential new followers by interacting with your target market when they comment on other brand’s posts.
For example, if you are in the fitness industry, seek out accounts from major companies like Equinox and Gatorade. Find users that are interacting with their posts, visit their pages, and engage with their content. This could mean leaving a comment on a recent post, reposting content, and liking their images. Just make sure that you are being authentic – many users will get instantly turned off by spammy interactions.
Use Editing Software
You don’t need to be an Adobe Photoshop expert to create quality content. Apps like VSCO, Whitagram, and Afterlight that are quick and easy to use and deliver professional-looking results. Just make sure not to go overboard. Don’t underestimate the value of simple fixes like boosting brightness or sharpening an image.
